The academy

Not a court booking.
A coaching system.

Two courts, properly matted, and a head coach who has spent thirty years teaching this game. More than a thousand players have come through here on their way to district, state and national level competition. Every one of them started with footwork.

01

Movement before power

Footwork and ready position come first. It is slower at the start and far faster forever after.

02

Two batches, not one crowd

The evening is split into two groups between 4:00 and 6:30, so nobody spends the session waiting for a turn on court.

03

One coach, every session

P.S. Srivastava takes both batches himself. The person who assessed you in week one is the person correcting you in week forty.

04

Competition when ready

Players have gone from these courts to district, state and national level draws — when their game was ready for it.

Why players stay

The hour on court is only half the work

Video review, strength blocks, recovery guidance and a coach who knows your child's name and their weak backhand. That is what turns three sessions a week into a real game.

Assessed on arrival

A new player gets watched properly before a batch is suggested — grip, movement, and how long they can hold a rally.

Drilled, not just played

Sessions are structured: footwork blocks, stroke work, then match play. Not two hours of unsupervised rallying.

Small enough to be seen

Two batches across two courts means the coach can actually watch each player hit, every session.

A record of results

Players from these courts compete at district, state and national level. The photographs on this page are theirs.

Inside a session

The conditioning
nobody posts about

Frog jumps, split-step drills and lunge work. This is the half of badminton that decides who is still moving properly in the third game.

Live from the academy floor Frog-jump ladder · explosive leg drive for the jump smash

Explosive power

Frog jumps, bounding and depth drops build the leg drive behind a jump smash.

Mobility first

Split stretches and hip openers open up the lunge, so the deep net shot stops being a stretch too far.

Load managed

Conditioning is periodised across the season. Hard weeks are planned, and so are the easy ones.

Why this academy exists

Started by a player,
for the next generation

SSAB was founded by a passionate badminton player who wanted to promote sport and fitness in Dehradun — and to put proper coaching within reach of students who might otherwise never get it.

Train students properly, help the ones who need a push, and motivate the generation coming up behind him to pick up a racket and stay active. That is still the whole point of the place.

The coach

P.S. Srivastava

P.S. Srivastava has been coaching badminton for over thirty years. In that time he has taken more than a thousand players through the academy floor and on to district, state and national level competition. He still takes both evening batches himself.

01

Thirty years on court

Not a rotating bench of part-timers. The same coach takes both evening batches, every day.

02

A thousand players and counting

Beginners through to competitors who have gone on to district, state and national level draws.

Questions

Before you book

Coaching is ₹2,000.00 a month and monthly court access is ₹1,500.00 a month. If you would rather pay as you go, court time is ₹150.00 an hour once you have registered, or ₹200.00 an hour without registering. Registration is a one-time ₹200.00 and is never charged again.

Coaching runs from 4:00 to 6:30 PM, Monday to Saturday, split into two batches — 4:00 to 5:15 and 5:15 to 6:30. Both are taken by P.S. Srivastava. Tell us which slot suits your week and we will place you in it if there is room.

Player hours are 6:00 to 9:00 in the morning and 7:00 to 9:00 in the evening, seven days a week. Monthly members come as often as they like. Everyone else pays by the hour at the desk.

No. Pay-per-hour exists precisely so you do not have to. Turn up during player hours, play, and pay for the court time you used. If you find yourself coming three times a week, the monthly membership will work out cheaper.

It is a one-time ₹200.00 that puts you on the academy roll. It gets you a player code, your record in the online portal, and the lower ₹150.00 hourly rate for as long as you play here.

No. Most players in the evening batches started with no experience at all. Beginners are taught grip, ready position and movement before anything else, and are not thrown straight into games against experienced players.

P.S. Srivastava, who has been coaching badminton for over thirty years and has taken more than a thousand players through these sessions. Players he has coached have competed at district, state and national level.

this week.

Walk in during player hours and pay ₹200.00 for the hour — no membership, no registration, nothing to sign. If you want a coached batch instead, message us and we will tell you which slot has room.
